About me

I’m Ebony Sharp — a clinical social worker, AASW Accredited Clinical Supervisor, senior leader and consultant with more than 20 years’ experience across social work, mental health, education, youth justice, community services and multidisciplinary practice.

My career has moved across direct practice, counselling and psychotherapy, clinical and professional supervision, leadership, workforce development, education, policy, service development and organisational systems work. I have worked alongside individuals and families, practitioners and multidisciplinary teams, supervisors and senior leaders, and across services and systems carrying significant complexity.

That breadth has shaped the way I understand practice.

I have always been interested not only in what is happening, but in the wider context around it — relationships, culture, power, organisational conditions, policy, systems, history and the expectations placed upon people within them.

Some places where I have worked in recent years include Parkville College (the specialist school that operates in youth justice and secure care facilities in Victoria), Victoria University, and Mercy Care.

I believe professional work can be rigorous without losing its humanity.

I value practice that is ethical, thoughtful, culturally responsive and grounded in relationship. 

I value curiosity over certainty, reflection alongside action, and systems that recognise the people within them. And I believe those of us doing demanding work need places where we can think, feel, question, process, learn and recalibrate — without having to perform competence or carry everything alone.

That is the kind of space I aim to create. 

My practice is underpinned by substantial professional qualifications, specialist training and more than two decades of experience across clinical practice, supervision, leadership, education and systems work.

I remain actively engaged in my own supervision, professional learning and development. I see this as an essential part of ethical practice — continuing to deepen knowledge, test ideas, engage with emerging evidence and reflect critically on how I work.

Outside of work, I’m a partner and parent to two teenagers, and family life is an important part of what keeps me grounded.

I’m curious, creative and happiest when life has a bit of space in it. I love making things, writing, being outdoors, collecting ideas, and getting absorbed in small creative projects that have nothing to do with my professional life.

I value warmth, humour, honesty and real conversation. I’m interested in people and the stories they carry, but also in the ordinary things that help us stay connected — creativity, rest, relationships, beauty and having something meaningful to look forward to.

Those parts of me inevitably shape how I work too. I don’t believe professionalism needs to mean distance or formality. I want the people I work with to experience me as thoughtful, engaged, human and real.
